Sir
Isaac Newton is perhaps the greatest physicist who has ever lived. Sir
Isaac Newton is was born 25 December 1642.
He
was an English physicist and mathematician who is widely recognized as one of
the most influential scientists of all time and as a key figure in the
scientific revolution.
His
book Philosophize Naturals Principal Mathematics that Means "Mathematical
Principles of Natural Philosophy", first published in 1687, laid the
foundations for classical mechanics.
Newton
made seminal contributions to optics, and he shares credit with Goth fried Leibniz for the development of calculus. He equally matched contenders for this title.
Great
scientists produced dramatic and startling transformations in the physical laws
we believe our universe obeys, changing the way we understand and relate to the
world around us.
Newton
did have a close friendship with the Swiss mathematician Nicolas Fatio de
Duillier, whom he met in London around 1690. Their friendship came to an
unexplained end in 1693. Some of their correspondence has survived.
